Particulates play a not insignificant role when it comes to the environment and climate. It’s not just in cities that particulates have become the subject of much criticism as a result of tyre abrasion in the traffic flow; the invisible particulates are also wreaking havoc in industry, for example due to the continuing use of old, belt-driven fans, with the resultant negative impact on the environment.
Not everyone is yet aware of the problem of the ticking environmental time bomb. There are however in fact currently thousands and thousands of old air handling units worldwide, using belt-driven fans from the 70s, 80s and 90s, which should have been replaced long ago in order to achieve energy-saving and eco-friendly values.

ZIEHL-ABEGG has launched Retrofitblue, a very special and safe fan modernisation programme which in most cases enables old fans to be easily replaced with state-of-the-art, innovative new fans and, at the same time, gets old air handling systems back into shape so they can achieve excellent, showpiece climate values of the future.
For example, the ZIEHL-ABEGG Retrofitblue team took just one and a half days to replace the old fan system used by a clinic in Saxony-Anhalt (see picture above), comprising two large, belt-operated fans, for three small, highly efficient biomimetic fans equipped with ECblue motor technology.
