New cutting-edge manufacturing hub opened in the US

Largest single investment in ZIEHL-ABEGG’s history enriches North American markets and local economy

On August 22, 2024, the grand opening of one of the most modern and leading production & development centers in the US was celebrated. With an investment volume of 100 million euros, this project represents the largest single investment in the company’s history. The construction, which began a year and a half earlier in February 2023, marks a milestone in ZIEHL-ABEGG’s global business activities and sets new standards in the production of bionic fans.

The new production & logistics headquarters is located in Winston-Salem, approx. 20 km from the Greensboro branch. Production areas, logistics and administration buildings as well as a state-of-the-art research and development center extend over approx. 48,500 m². The intelligent, fully integrated production system enables the production of up to 800,000 fans per year at full capacity. Production has already started. By mapping the complete value chain in Winston-Salem, the site will become the hub for ZIEHL-ABEGG’s fan manufacturing in North America. The advanced research & development center will enable the company to design solutions that exceed not only today’s needs, but also future demand.

“We’ve built this facility with the future in mind. It’s designed to be flexible and adaptable, so we can continue to innovate and meet the evolving needs of our customers.”

Jimmy Mitchell
Vice President of Operations at ZIEHL-ABEGG Inc.

The new production facility in North Carolina enables ZIEHL-ABEGG to meet the increased demand for fan solutions in North America. In particular, markets such as data centers and cleanrooms offer great potential for further growth. In addition, the new production center will create hundreds of jobs in the region.

Our customers benefit from a high degree of flexibility. Thanks to faster throughput times and shorter delivery routes, the product reaches the customer sooner. With the advanced research and development center, fans can be adapted faster and more individually to the evolving needs of North American customer groups. At the same time, the site contributes to improving the sustainability balance, as delivery routes are shortened and sea transportation is reduced, which in turn contributes positively to our ZA2030 strategy.

With this new production and development center, we are continuing our commitment to shaping the future of ventilation technology with excellence and in appreciation of nature.
